Well the season is well and truly over with both the remaining finals having been played this week. In the Ladies Championship a great match was played out between Ann McQueen & Marena McClymont. Ann regained the championship at the 19th hole.
In the Captains Trophy Brian Duguid overcame a weary Iain McQueen. Since this competition was first introduced 5 years ago there has only been 2 names on the trophy, perhaps next year Brian Duguid & Stuart Jamieson will win through to the last 8 of the championship proper and give someone else a chance.
On Saturday the ladies played their first winter league of the season with an excellent turnout. The winner was Erica Porteous with a superb 30 points for 15 holes.
Sunday was the gents Cross Country competition. This was won by Scott Jamieson who readily admits this is his favourite competition of the year.
On Thursday a 12 man senior team played Kirkcudbright Eggs at New Galloway. The match was all square after the first 5 matches and it was down to the last game but alas New Galloway lost by 2 and the final result was Kbt Eggs 11 NGS 9. Lets hope we can get the trophy back when we play them next year at Kirkcudbright. The Captain of the Eggs said that it was the course was in the best condition he had played this year – compliments to the greenkeeping staff and said he wished they could have our catering staff at Kirkcudbright!
Also during the week Tony Graham playing his usual Wednesday bounce game hole out for an Ace at the 7th Hole. Luckily Tony was only playing with 3 others and as the course was empty but for this group, his hole in one turned out not to be too costly for him.
