Ladies March Medal

MARCH MEDAL 5 ladies played in the March medal on Saturday 17th March..  It was very cold, windy and with the occasional flurry of snow.       However this did not affect Chris McIntyre who fought against the elements and won with a net 70. 2 ladies played in the 9 hole qualifying competition. April Medal saw Anne McQueen back on form with a winning score of net 71.

Twentieth Seniors League

On a bright sunny morning with no wind nine wee mice made hay while the big boys were away. It was a great day for the ladies Chris winning with an outstanding 34 points followed by Marena on 30 points. Ian McCulloch third on 28 points and Erica fourth with 27 points.

New Galloway Golf Club – News

Who'd have thought the end of February would come along so quickly!! The course has stood up well to all the rain during the winter and hopefully the weather will improve now. As we go into March the start of the new season approaches fast. The sheets are up for opening day on Sunday 25th, come along and join in the fun. Seniors Outing Portpatrick

13 players took part in the second round of the 36 hole Trophy. It was a close run competition with four players scoring 31/32 points on a windy day with ground affording tight lies. Congratulation to Erica who won with a better inward 6 from Jeff, Erica winning the title with two excellent rounds of 32 points. Seventeenth Seniors League

Seventeenth Seniors League Twelve players took part on a windy February day. The course was wet underfoot, with odd patches of snow and ice on the fifth green. Victor on the day was Dave Nielsen on 26 points winning by virtue of a better inward half for m Brian Porteous. Following on 23 points were Dave Aitken, Ian Brown and Wave Tyrrell. The second round of the 36 Hole Trophy has been booked for this coming Thursday. I have 9 names so far. Please let me know if you wish to take part.

Fifteenth Seniors League

Fifteenth Seniors League Eleven brave players tackled the course on a day of glorious sunshine with a freezing wind that did not stop when it hit you.  Three retired, one on account of his playing partners not finding his balls when he duffed them into the whinns. All players succumbed to the wind in scoring 22 or less apart from the outstanding Mr Brown who scored a superb 26 points off a handicap of 4, now playing off 2. Fourteenth Seniors League 12 players turned up for the fourteenth league after a 3 weeks on cancelled competitions. The course was surprisingly playable after one of the worst periods of flooding. One player retired early on account of mistreating his golf trolley and it is embarrassing to report that his behaviour has been reported to the NSPGT, for those ignorant of this esteemed organisation “the National Society for the Protection of Golf Trolleys”. Twelfth Seniors League "I've never once seen a cup move towards the ball" HENRY LONGHURST on a putt left short. 14 players took part in the twelfth league and a white frosty morning. The sun came through the fog to make a glorious morning. In general the golf was not great as most of the course was frozen.
