Glenluce: 2016 Week 20

Rain was forecast but it kept away for our round. It was commendable that 10 players scored 31 or better of the 13 who turned up. It was an extremely tight finish with three players on 36 points. Honours go to Ian Brown who had a better inward 6 holes from Brian Porteous, leaving Tony Graham in third place. Overall Ronnie leads on 40 points, Brian 36 points and Terry and Nev on 35. Glenluce:2015 Week 18

Ten of us made it to Glenluce this week and played in dry and windy conditions as the early beginnings of storm Frank blew in. Wave, last weeks winner, won again with 35 points with a better inward half of 19 from Ian McCulloch. Ronnie, Dave Aitken and Ian Brown scored 32 points where Ronnie grabbed the 3 points with the best inward half. This bring Ronnie into the overall lead with 38 points, 4 points ahead of the absent Terry on 34 points followed by Nev on 33 and Brian on 32, the four leaving the rest of us trailing behind. The…

Glenluce:2015 Week 17

Some must have been Christmas shopping as only 8 souls turned up. Our leader Terry was hijacked with a leak in his house plumbing giving the rest of us a chance. Ian Brown had another two this week and his handicap has now gone up despite my efforts to the contrary. Wave had his first win of the season and well deserved if I may say so. In second place was Nev White with 36 points by virtue of a better inward half from Dave Nielsen. Player Points 1 Wave Tyrrell 37 2 Nevile White 36 3 Dave Nielsen 36…

Glenluce:2015 Week 16

We had a normal start at 10.00 and played in a stiff wind against for the first nine and then the wind assisted on the way in. The scoring was really tight with Brian Porteous winning with 36 points having a better inward half to Ronnie Ritchie. In third place with 35 points was Ian Brown who had a fine two at the 13th playing a wind assisted wedge to 3 feet from the pin and coolly sunk the putt. The battle for the title is hotting up the front runners of Ronnie on 35 points, Terry on 34, Brian…

Glenluce:2015 Week15

We started earlier to miss the incoming weather but half way round we encountered a fierce hail storm squall stinging any exposed skin. All players finished dried by the strong wind that needed at least 4 more clubs into the wind. The average score for the back nine was 12 points. Accordingly handicap was reductions only. Sorry Ian you are still off 8. Triumphant was Ian McIlvenna with 37 points and reducing his handicap by .08. Next was the ubiquitous Terry Haine on 34 points. There were no twos and the pot now stands at £18.70. Player Points 1 Ian…

Seniors League 9:2015

Players got off to a smart start as rain came in at 11 am as forecast. Surprisingly, it was the second best turnout. According to Jeff, Terry displayed an impeccable game of golf scoring 37 points, having scored 38 points on Sunday. No wonder folk are talking. In second place was Dave Aitken with 30 points, very respectful in the conditions. Next came Dave Nielsen and Ian McIlvenna on 28 points, Dave having the better inward half. Stuart Rhodes came 5th with 27 points.

Glenluce:2015 Week14

This week the weather dictated that we play again on the Wednesday. Apart for a shower early on, it was a good decision. There was I and Dave Aitken sitting comfortably in the Clubhouse with 37 points and a hope of winning, maybe remote. Bye the way Dave you had 36 points. In comes big Ronnie in the last group and smashes our hopes with 40 points. He deserves a 0.6 handicap reduction. The pot is growing as no one had a two:  oh all those stories of what might have been! Our match with Glenluce has been arranged for Tuesday…
