OK, Jorge, bring it on!

After storms Ciara and Dennis put the kibosh on the last two weeks’ play, we were all suffering rather badly from cabin fever. Luckily Storm Jorge was considerate enough to delay his arrival long enough to let us set out for some fresh air. Full disclosure: I wasn’t keen having walked up and aquaplaned across – sorry- inspected the first green. But I got run over in the stampede of players who headed for the first tee in eager anticipation. Who was I to argue?

So seven, stir-crazy golfers set out in the dazzling sunshine to do battle for another 10 points in the fast-closing Winter League.

Tally-ho!

Don’t be fooled by the sunshine, the course was fairly wet underfoot. As a result play was challenging. Or maybe that was just me?

Hocus crocus – magical flowers out by the 2nd tee

Admire the dazzling sun bursts. Ignore the fact that gales have blown over the bench.

Quickest out of the blocks were Janette and Erica. They both grabbed 5 points at the first two holes. Making a mockery of the tricky conditions in fine style.

It’s a fair kop. Lining up putts on the 7th

The best score on the 7th today was from Elizabeth who bagged a very creditable 3 points.

Having blobbed three-in-a-row earlier, I arrived on the 8th green mentally composing the Ebay ad selling my golf clubs. To my surprise, my approach shot had ended up not too far away. I managed to putt out and bag the only 5 of the day. For a measly 3 points.

The hateful eight

All hail!

Coming down the 8th, the storm arrived with a rather exciting flash hail storm.

Glady, we raced down to putt out and get back to the clubhouse for very delicious apple cake courtesy of Elena.

1 of my 5-a-day. OK, 2 of my 5-a-day, I had seconds…

No two’s glory or holes in one today. Not surprising as the ball was hardly running.

Nobody managed a blob-free round either – though there were a few valiant attempts.

It was crowded in 3rd place with four golfers tied on 12 points:

3rd: Marena, Elena, Gill & Janette

Despite starting in blobsville, Kay recovered well – helped along by a 3 for 3 at the 4th! – to finish a strong second with 13 points:

2nd: Kay

And scoring steadily all the way round (four 2’s and a 3) apart from a teeny-tiny blippeterini at the 8th, was Erica who finished in top place on a great 14 points:

1st: Erica

A great round to stretch her lead at the top of the Winter League. Very well done 🙂 ?

Next time we get to play on Saturday 29th February will be 2048!
