Monthly News

Following opening day the club activities are going ahead at full speed. Our junior coaches are now active in both the local schools and on the course on Saturdays. The coaching is now aided by the purchase of 5 new sets of junior clubs which were funded by a generous grant from the Charity Shop in Dalry, The club is extremely grateful for this help with our junior programme. New Galloway Golf Club – Monthly News

Last weekend with the weather still very cold but dry, 30 hardy members turned out to play on opening day. the competition was very fierce between the Captain's & Vice Captain's teams however with only one of the Vice Captains team providing him with a winning score the Captain's team galloped to victory. Following the match some superb soup &  sandwiches where provided in the clubhouse where everyone enjoyed a social occassion. Thanks go to everyone who provided food and made the day such a success. Oops Where am I

 You are now in the new New Galloway Golf Club website. It is not fully complete. The reason for the change is to have a website that is designed to be better viewed on laptops, tablets and smartphones. The system shifts the elements (blocks) round to suit the size of the screen, otherwise called a responsive website. Google favours responsive websites. The site includes a content management system that will allow designated office bearers to update and amend the pages.

Club News – November

Despit the weather the club has had a good month in November. With the clubhouse roof repaired members have once again come to the fore, repairing and decorariong the cieling ready for the Christmas period. Those of you who pass the clubhouse will notice that this year we have teamed up with the rest of the village to provide a tree & decorations. Winter News – October 2017

With the inclement weather this month the course has stood up well and only a couple of weekly competitions have had to be cancelled. A reminder that our Prize Giving is scheduled for Saturday 11th November. There will be a 15 hole Texas Scramble prior to a buffet and the presentation. everyone and their guests are welcome and if you would like to attend you can enter on the sheets in the changing rooms or by e-mailing me direct. Weekly News – Monday 9th October 2017

On Sunday we played the rescheduled closing day competition for the Knocknalling Cup. The weather was beautiful for the time of year with no wind and the golf was of a very high standard. In second place was Sandy Harvie, John Crallan & one of our up and coming juniors, Fiona McQueen who was playing in her first club competition. Weekly News – Monday 25th September 2017

Alas the weather has caused us to postpone closing day, we will now play this on Sunday 8th The ladies faired much better on Saturday when they just managed to complete their medal final. The winner was Elena Rogers with a net 77. The Week Ahead Saturday 30th September - Ladies 1st Winter League. Tee off 10am Sunday 1st October - Gents Cross Country. Course closed from 10am. Weekly News – Monday 18th September 2017

With mixed weather since my last news back in August both the Ladies & Gents have only managed to complete  two competitions each. The ladies have played their September medal which was won by Marena McClymont with a fine net 69 and the Centenary Cup which was won by Chris McIntyre. The gents have played their Presidents Putter which was won by Richard Tulloch. This with an amazing 9 putts on the back nine and a great score of 64 + 23 putts = 87. Weekly News – Monday 21st August 2017

With the weather forcing the ladies to abandon their Wednesday competition they all headed off to Powfoot on Thursday for their annual outing. Everyone who went enjoyed their day and the winner was Marena McClymont with 32 points. On Sunday the gents replayed their MacMillan scratch cup. On the day Sandy Harvie & Dick Tulloch could not be seperated both having shot 74. They will now play off over 18 holes for the trophy.
